Dental Irrigators - Do They Really Do The Job?
I guess this article would be classified as a review of the hydro floss oral irrigator based on personal observation and use. This is a tool that should be talked about.
There was a time when my doctor (dentist) and her hygienist wanted me to take some action against my gum disease problem. They were quite sober and determined in their explanation of what they felt was a necessary treatment.
Their plan involved something called a ’scaling and root planing’. This is also referred to as a SRP.
I would like to have heard something very different. It just didn’t sound like it was something that I wanted to go through.
I was told by the hygienist that she would have to go in under the gums and remove the tartar that had formed there over time. She has special tools for the job. She also intended to make the surfaces smooth so that it would be harder for calculus build-up to return.
This procedure appeared to be even worse than I first imagined. It was no comfort to hear her say that she could numb my gums up so that I wouldn’t feel a thing!
At this point, I knew it was going to hurt whenever the medication wore off. This was not the kind of life experience that I would remember fondly.
The dentist’s helper was very firm that if I didn’t accept their treatment plan that they can not accept responsibility for what might happen to my teeth. I needed to signify that I understood that by signing a waiver. Could things get any worse?
Candidly speaking, I imagined that I was becoming the victim of some slick marketing tactics. I really felt that this was some type of pushy marketing tactic.
Then there was the ‘final straw’ for me. The hygienist told me that it would be best if they started today. She wanted to substitute this new treatment for my regular cleaning.
Her reasoning certainly made a lot of sense. It sounded as if insurance was a big factor. If I chose to get the regular and standard cleaning done, my insurance could choose to not pay for the advanced treatment in the future.I strongly believed that I needed to think this over before I could commit to what they were asking.
I decided to decline because there was a strong sense inside me that this was not a good idea.Strangely, I never heard another word about that waiver.
The entire predicament seemed very surreal to me.I felt that their HAD to be another way to heal my gums.
Later, I found out that a person I know had this protocol done to her. She told me that she was unhappy with the outcome.
I searched around for an answer.I stumbled upon the HydroFloss Irrigator.I decided to get one.
I was very hopeful when the package was left on my doorstep. I happened to know that the package should have arrived with an instructional video in it, but my package didn’t have one.
I fired off a note, respectfully requesting for the video that was not in the package. There was no problem from that point on and it was mailed to me.I was absolutely excited after viewing the video.
I really felt sure that this device was going to be useful.I committed to using it several timers per day.
Somewhere around five months elapsed before it was time to visit the dentist again. I was delighted by the reaction from them.
The same assistant and doctor took a good look at my gums. Each agreed that there was a vast improvement. They actually told me that there was no longer any need for that SRP treatment at this point.
You most likely realize that I was very, very happy to learn of my results. I continue to utilize the hydro floss every day, unless I’m out of town travelling.
If you have been wondering if the HydroFloss is really worth it, let me tell you: In my opinion, it really is worth it! My enthusiasm is based simply on the my experience.
